    Kimmo Koskela's beautiful documentary about the unique Finnish accordion player, Kimmo Pohjonen, is coming to theatres on 22nd Mar 2013. Soundbreaker is a portrait of a musician who has found his own, unorthodox style. With magnetic music and magnificent visual execution it takes the viewer to an adventure to Pohjonen's beautifully wild mental landscapes and dives into his fearless performance art.

    The opening film of the DocPoint 2013, Hilton! (dir. Virpi Suutari), will be screened at Finnkino movie theatres from 15.3. onwards!

    Susanna Helke's American Vagabond is a cherry on the DocPoint cake. The film that was chosen for the New Finnish Documentary Films Selection is seen at a special screening in Maxim on 27th Feb at 6 p.m.

     

    American Vagabond tells the story of James. He runs away from home together with his boyfriend. The destination is the ever-so-liberal San Francisco. The beautiful film is about tolerance and the feeling of alientation.

    The twelth DocPoint was a success gathering nearly 30 000 festival goers during six days. There were 35 sold out screenings which was more than last year.

     

     

     

     

     

    The audience was mostly interested in new Finnish documentary films such as My Stuff (dir. Petri Luukkainen), Finnish Blood Swedish Heart (dir. Mika Ronkainen) and A Studio in a Factory Town (dir. Matleena Jänis).

    A documentary filmmaker and a good journalist have similar working methods. They both can form the right questions and find truthful answers to them. Finally, it is their audiences that get to enjoy the results.
